TritonAudio FetHead Phantom
FetHead Filter is a high-quality phantom-powered inline preamplifier. It features a built-in high-pass filter with a cutoff of 220Hz (other frequencies available upon request). This filter reduces excessive low-frequency/proximity effects exhibited by some microphones, such as long motor ribbon microphones. The filter elements are not directly in the signal path but are applied to the components that determine the amplification of the FetHead Filter. This ensures frequency dependence and preserves the sonic characteristics of the FetHead Filter.
Control Excessive Low-Frequency Buildup
'Proximity effect' is a phenomenon that leads to an increase in low-frequency response as you move the microphone closer to the source. The closer you get, the greater the bass boost. While this effect may be desirable for achieving a very deep radio voice, it can be problematic for other sources. The FetHead Filter helps control excessive low-frequency buildup, ensuring a clear sound.
Suitable for XLR Microphones
The FetHead Filter can be directly attached to any XLR-equipped microphone or placed anywhere else in the signal path between the microphone and preamplifier/mixer. The electronics are housed in a robust metal chassis with a balanced female XLR input and a balanced male XLR output, sturdy enough for use at home, in the studio, or on the go.
Microphone Protection
Some older ribbon microphones do not tolerate phantom power. FetHead Filter uses phantom power to supply power to the circuits but does not pass phantom power to the microphone, ensuring the safety of your microphone.
