The FetHead is an inline microphone preamplifier with ultra-low noise of high quality. It provides improved sound for ribbon and dynamic microphones. The Fethead can be directly attached to any XLR-equipped microphone or placed anywhere else in the signal path between the microphone and preamplifier/mixer. The electronics are housed in a robust metal chassis with a balanced female XLR input and a balanced male XLR output, sturdy enough for home or studio use.

Suitable for Ribbon and Dynamic Microphones

Several microphones have been tested with the TritonAudio Fethead, including the Shure SM57, which sounds more responsive across a wider frequency range. When paired with a high-end dynamic microphone such as a Sennheiser MD441 or Shure SM7, the FetHead truly shines.

Ribbon microphones also benefit significantly from a much better impedance match. The FetHead reduces the load on the microphone, providing better transient response characteristics. FetHead's low-noise signal amplification also expands the usable range of a ribbon microphone, making it more suitable for capturing softer sound sources.
