Shure Beta 87A Vocal Microphone

The Beta 87A is equipped with a low-frequency roll-off that compensates for the proximity effect, preventing the sound often associated with close pickup. Its specific frequency response, with progressive presence, enhances the upper midrange and makes singers more audible. The tight supercardioid polar pattern provides maximum isolation from other singers or instruments while minimizing off-axis coloration. It operates on phantom power.

Give your singing the spotlight.

What is the Beta 87A Best Suited For?

The Shure Beta 87A is a high-quality supercardioid handheld condenser vocal microphone with an exceptionally flat frequency response and high sound pressure level. It is ideal for lead and backing vocals, both on stage and in the studio.

What's the Difference Between the Beta 87A and the Beta 87C?

The primary difference is the pickup pattern. The BETA 87A is supercardioid, while the BETA 87C is cardioid. The 87C was introduced for artists who use in-ear monitors. In general, a cardioid microphone is often preferred by in-ear monitor users because it sounds more "natural" with the in-ear mix.

If you are using floor monitors, the BETA 87A might be a better choice as it often provides slightly more gain before feedback than the BETA 87C. However, the best model for you can only be determined by listening to the microphones.
